Our Powering Communities Fund Helps Community Energy Groups Thrive
It’s no secret that community energy groups need more backing to help grow their projects, which is why we’re excited to announce that applications for 2026 will open on 1 May
That’s why we’re also thrilled to share that organisations can now apply for up to £5,000 per application, unlocking even more funding to help boost your projects.
Being eligible is easy; all you need is to be a community energy group or organisation with a current or upcoming Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with us, have a site on our Community Smart Export Guarantee, or have used our Kickstart Loan facility.
Check out the incredible projects we've supported over the years!
Here's How It All Works
This grant funding is possible through our partnership with Your Co-op Energy. We believe businesses and homes should be powered by community-produced energy.
So, for every new customer that switches to their Community Power Tariff, we’ll add £10 to the Powering Communities Fund pot. No questions, no quibbles - we love doing it.
Each year, we’ll dip into this pot and provide grants to help community groups develop and deliver their social impact projects.
So far we've had six rounds of funding and given out £80,000, helping to take 24 different projects to the next level.
